Downtown Disney is an interesting place. It is a shopping and dining area in the Disney World Resort complex. In addition, they have a movie theater, bowling lanes, and an indoor theme park. There used to be an area called pleasure island which had more adult oriented nightlife, but unfortunately those were closed a couple of years back. One of the best stores there is World of Disney, a 50,000 square foot store with Disney merchandise.
There is also a Lego store with some amazing Lego sculptures.
There are also some decent places to eat in the area. We ate at Paradiso 37 and Planet Hollywood but they also have a Rainforest Cafe and other specialty restaurants.
The Downtown Disney area is a nice break from the parks and the resorts if you’re looking to get away from the Disney overload. There is plenty of things to do there for kids and adults alike. If you are visiting Disney World, it is hard to justify not going to Downtown Disney since it is in the Disney area.
